3 Kete of Knowledge
The demigod Tane decided to climb to the heavens to receive the knowledge that mankind needed to live on earth. The ascent was a great struggle against adversity, but once he was admitted into the heavens, he was given the knowledge in three kete (baskets).
kete-aronui - the knowledge that could help mankind
kete-tuauri - knowledge of ritual, memory and prayer
kete-tuatea - knowledge of evil or makutu, which was harmful to mankind
The Three Baskets of Knowledge represent the spiritual, natural, and human realms of understanding and hold the knowledge of what is right and wrong so we can seek to live a balanced and fruitful life
